Neal Shusterman @ West Hartford Barnes & Noble on 12/14!

For all my Neal Shusterman fans out there (*I’m madly waving my own hand in the air!*), I just learned that the man himself will be at the Blue Back Square Barnes & Noble this Wednesday, Dec. 14th at 7 pm to talk about his new book:  SCYTHE.  I suspect Mr. Shusterman will be doing a reading from his new book, as well as answering some questions from fans. The store location is:

Barnes & Noble
Blue Back Square
60 Isham Road
West Hartford, CT 06107

I hope some of you can go! Below is some brief information about his new book, as well as the author himself (for anyone who may be new to Shusterman’s books)…

About Scythe:  Two teens must learn the “art of killing” in the first in a chilling new series from Neal Shusterman. A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery: humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now Scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control. Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that neither wants. These teens must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own.

About this author:  Neal Shusterman is a bestselling author of novels for young adults, including Unwind, which was an ALA Best Book for Young Adults. Unwind is the first of the Unwind Dystology, followed by UnWholly, UnSouled, and UnDivided. Shusterman’s 2014 novel Challenger Deep won the National Book Award and Golden Kite Award. The father of four children, Shusterman lives in Southern California.

New series by Kiera Cass!

If you’re a fan of The Selection series by Kiera Cass (I certainly am!), then you should definitely check out her new series based on the mythology of Sirens (you know, those ocean-bound ladies from Greek mythology who would sing men to their deaths). The title of her new book is The Siren, and we’ll definitely have it in our teen collection in the very near future.

Below are a few videos to stir your curiosity – one is a brief video of Kiera Cass herself talking about the new book; the other is a lovely book trailer to get you excited about the new series…
